Nappy Babies

As some of you may already know we are expecting a little bundle of joy this July. I thought this would be no better time to show you some of the Baby gift I have made for friends in the last few years.

Let me introduce to you Nappy Babies. These super cute guys are easy to make, and they really brighten up a hamper.

What you will need

  • A Nappy
  • An Elastic
  • Googly Eyes and Pen
  • Small Facecloth
  • Baby Socks

Method

Take the Nappy and roll it from the padded side to the thin waistband. Once this is secure place an elastic around it to hold it. Not too tight to make a dint n the Nappy.

Now take the small face cloth and wrap it around the nappy like a swaddle ? Cover the elastic as you do this.

Now you are going to use a sock as a hat so turn up the cuff of the sock a few times. Now place it on the other end of the nappy.

All it needs now is a face. For this on I stuck on some googly eyes and drew on a smile. Sometimes I draw on little closed eyes like they are sleeping

What do you think? Here are so samples of where I used them. Why don’t you give it a go?

Button Balloon

I’ve been doing the Baby Name frames as gifts for a while now so I decided I was going to try a different design.

What you will need

  • Small box Frame (I got this one in The Range)
  • Background paper
  • Coloured buttons
  • Burlap
  • Flower embellishment
  • Double sided tape
  • PVA glue
  • Scrabble Letters

Method

I have a huge new collection of lovely coloured buttons in all different shapes and sizes.

I came up with the idea that I would make a hot air balloon shape using them. Firstly I picked a selection of buttons in different colours and sizes. I started to arrange them in different ways, surprising harder then you think. I can up with this. Looks good to me.

Next I had to make a little basket. I took some burlap material and stuck it on a larger piece of double sided tape. when I say large I mean like 3cm x 3 cm. then I cut the basket shape I wanted.

Leaving the the tape on the back I added a flower embellishment to the front of the basket. I then took two pieces of scrap burlap to lake the ropes to the balloon.

Next I had to figure out what way I was going to arrange it all. The frame I used was smaller then what I would usually use. I re-arranged the buttons again on the paper backing. I picked this paper background that had a blue gradient that looks like the sky. I thought at one stage that I would put the scrabble tiles on the outside of the frame. Don’t worry I spelt it right in the end.

After a bit of moving around I decided to fit all in the frame. It was now time to fix everything in place. I used PVA glue to secure in the first row of buttons. As they dried, I put the basket in place using the double sided tape. I fixed the letters in place using double sided tape as well. I then fixed the extra buttons into place.

And here it is in the frame and ready to go. As it is a small size I think it will work perfect on little Fiadh’s bedroom door.

Baby Name Frame

Here is how I made these beautiful personalised baby gifts

Here is what you will need

Method

I use the box frames in IKEA all the time, they are a great size are light weight and affordable. Removing the mount from the frame I place the patterned paper on the inside securing it with tape. Next I put some ribbon along the bottom of the mount, this will hold the letters for the name.  Some double sided tape is good to hold the ribbon in place and I also fixed it into place at the back with tape. Next I put some string across the top of the mount like a clothes line, taped at the back as well.

Now it time to hang out the washing. I arranged 2 small pegs on the line and then attached the pre cut baby grow shape making sure it was in the centre of the mount. Once I was happy it was in the centre I secured it with some double sided tape. I also placed a small bit of tape on the pegs.

Next I arrange the letters on the ribbon at the bottom and secured in place with double sided tape. I made sure at this stage that everything was good position when the mount was added back to the frame. Lastly it was time to add the embellishments. I put 2 small buttons on the baby grow, held with double sided. Also put some buttons in the top right and left corners of the frame again held in place with double sided.

Lastly I added a pacifier embellishment. I used PVA glue to put this in place as it dries clear. I left to dry over night and the next day I assembled the frame and checked all was staying in place.
