Valentines Crafts

Love Fool Trees

Valentines is one of my favourite times and I an excuse to put up some more decorations after a sad depressing January.

I had some leftover styrofoam cones left from making Christmas decorations so I thought they would make perfect Love Fool Trees.

What you will Need

  • Styrofoam Cones
  • Crepe Paper
  • Felt Ribbon
  • Heart Embellishments
  • Red Buttons
  • Pink Fluffy Embellishments
  • Pipe Cleaners
  • Pearl Garland
  • Scrabble Letters
  • Foam Double Sided Tape
  • Glue Gun and Glue

Method

Take the Cone and cove them with come coloured crepe paper. I used some that I had kept from a Christmas gift. The pink paper is actually from a bunch of flowers.

Then I took a pip cleaner and made them into a heard to put at the top. Then I used some ribbon and wraped it around the tree.

To finish off the Pink one I used some foam double sided squares and covered it in Red buttons and Hearts on it.

On the Red one I started by adding some scrabble letters. Then I added some pearl garland to it. I then used some double sided to stick the fluffy embellishments on it.

I thought they where all done and I left them on the mantle in the sitting room. I went back in later and found that the pick fluffy embellishments had all fallen off. So I decided to glue gun them on instead. they stayed on this time.

And there you have it, two Love Fool Trees. Why don’t you give it a go yourself.

Valentines Garland

I wanted to do something small for valentines this year so I thought you can’t go wrong with a garland.

What you will need

  • Cardboard
  • Wool – Red, pink and White
  • Darning Needle
  • Pom Pom Maker
  • Twine
  • Scissors

Method

I made 2 different types of hearts and some pom poms for the garland.

Stitched Heart

Firstly, I took the thin cardboard and drew a heart. Once I was happy with the shape, I cut it out with scissors. I used this first heart as a template for more.

I then took a punch, the one I use happened to have a heart shape punch. I followed the edge of the heart leaving about a half cm in between each hole.

Once I had the heart ready I took some wool and thread it in a darning needle. Now it is time to stitch up the heart.

I stitched away crossing it over and back randomly. When I was happy there was enough stitching, I tied a knot.

Wrapped Heart

For the second style heart I took one of the pre cut card hearts. This heart you just start wrapping the wool around the card.

The more you wrap around the easier it is to get to the harder bits like the bottom tip of the heart.

Once I was happy with the amount of wool on it, I took the end of the wool and using a needle I threaded it through and tied a knot.

Pom Pom’s

I have made pom poms in several different projects and they are one of my favourite things to make. Here is the link to how to make Pom Poms

Once I have the 3 parts ready, time to make the garland. I took some twine and attached them hearts and poms to it in random shape and colour order.

Why don’t you give it a go ???
